Cathedral Church of St. John the Evangelist
This is the oldest Anglican church in the Far East. It is the cathedral of the Diocese of Hong Kong Island and the mother church to the Province of Hong Kong and Macau. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Hong Kong.
The cathedral’s foundation stone was laid in 1847 and held it’s first service two years later. The cathedral is built in the Gothic Revival style – an unadorned adaptation of 13th Century English and Decorated Gothic.
