Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady and St. John the Baptist
This is the oldest Cistercian cathedral in Bohemia and dates back to 1142 when it was founded by monks from Waldsassen Abbey in Bavaria. This was the time of the largest expansion of the Cistercian Order.
The abbey was originally built in the Romanesque style but remodelled in the Gothic style between 1280 and 1320. It was burnt down by the Hussites led by Jan Žižka in 1421. The buildings were reconstructed between 1699 and 1707.
