The Parish of St. Mark, Portland

on

This is an Anglo-Catholic church located in the Alphabet District of the city of Portland in the State of Oregon, north-west USA. In 1993 it left the Episcopal Church of the USA to join the ‘continuing’ (traditionalists) Anglicans, and in 2009 voted to become a parish in the Anglican Province of Christ the King.

The church was founded in the late 1800s as a Mission of the Episcopal Church and has always been “Anglo-Catholic’ in its practices. The present building, which was built in the late 1910s, is in the Romanesque style. The marble rood screen and statues were donated by Miss Catherine Percival who was the sister of the noted Anglo-Catholic clergyman, Henry R. Percival rector of the Church of the Evangelists in Philadelphia.
